Nnamdi Madubuike, Ravens Pro Bowl defensive lineman, will not play in Kansas City because of a neck injury. However it could take longer.
When asked Wednesday if there were long-term concerns about the situation, John Harbaugh, head coach, said: “I’m worried.”
He added, “We will have to wait and see when they are able to tell us what they require.”
Harbaugh has said that he is unable to comment on Madubuike’s injury at this time.
Harbaugh stated that Madubuike showed symptoms following the Ravens’ win over the Cleveland Browns in Week 2. He also said Madubuike underwent additional testing. Harbaugh stated that “nothing in particular” happened to Madubuike during the Ravens’ Week 2 win against the Cleveland Browns.
Madubuike missed the Lions’ 224-yard rushing game against Detroit on Monday night, as he has not practiced since.
This is a huge loss for a defense that’s looking to rebound. Madubuike is one of Ravens’ best players. He led them with 13 sacks during 2023. He signed a reported four-year contract extension worth $98 million before the last season.
“It’s big. Odafe Oweh, an outside linebacker, said: “He’s a man we need. He is dominant and all that.” “I feel bad but we will be ready. It’s a next-man mentality.”
Oweh, Madubuike and their Nigerian heritage bind them together as good friends and brothers. Oweh told him that he had spoken to Madubuike a few days before the Ravens took on the Lions.
Oweh explained, “I just wanted to see what was going on in his mind. I wanted to know how he felt and all that.” “He feels well. “He’s just trying get back on the pitch.”
Other Ravens defensive line injuries include Broderick Washingon Jr. and Travis Jones. Both did not practice on Wednesday. Baltimore has signed Taven Bryan and Josh Tupou, two veteran defensive tackles to its practice squad.
Aeneas Peasebles, a rookie from the sixth round of the Ravens draft who made two tackles on Lions quarterback Jared Goff and recorded one of Ravens six quarterback hits.
Peebles stated that it is always painful to lose a player of such high caliber, and especially a defensive tackle who has been selected for the All-Pro team. Not only does it hurt to lose a teammate, but also a leader on the field. It’s our duty to him and to the Ravens as a whole to take up the slack and accept the challenge.
