The Ravens’ problem is not with morale or their leadership, but rather their record of wins and losses.
Kyle Hamilton and Tyler Linderbaum have rebutted any suggestion that the Ravens are lacking veteran leadership in spite of their 1-5 record. Both Pro Bowlers believe that Baltimore’s ability to remain united in the face of adversity is a positive.
Hamilton stated, “I do not think morale is low.” I don’t believe there has been a decline in the practice or in the talk in the building. We still believe we are talented enough to reach the playoffs, and we will make magic when we get there.
“There’s no anarchy here.” Now is the time to be united. This is unacceptable. Everyone can complain about how tough our schedule is, but eventually, we will have to beat the teams in the playoffs. We’re 1-5. They think we are easy pickings and a free victory. It’s our job to change that narrative.
Hamilton and Linderbaum, who were both first-round draft picks by the Ravens in 2022, quickly gained the respect of their teammates. They have both been selected to several Pro Bowls, and they have missed few practices or games.
Linderbaum says that there’s been no lack of attention to details or focus. Linderbaum says that players are working hard, but the results don’t show it.
Linderbaum stated, “I believe we have excellent leadership in our locker room.” There are a number of veterans, players who have played good football and teammates that are accountable. I don’t see any problem with veteran leadership. The players are excited and happy to come back and still practice and perform at high levels.
“I thought the bye-week was fantastic. It was a good chance to go on a run, and finish 12-5. I think the guys were just as deliberate in Week 1 as they now are. “That’s the type of players we have.”
John Harbaugh, the head coach of the Cleveland Browns, said that being 1-5 was a difficult situation. However he expected the team to overcome the challenge.
Harbaugh stated, “It is not fun to be 1-5.” You carry that around every day. It’s all part of the package. You have to be strong. “You’ll need broad shoulders to handle it.”
Linderbaum said that Harbaugh’s message “absolutely resonates” with the team.
Linderbaum stated that “He is a top coach in the league because he deserves to be.” He’s done it for a very long time. It’s ultimately our responsibility as athletes to play as hard as possible, regardless of the circumstances.
If the Ravens are to become the fifth team to reach the playoffs since 1970 after starting out 1-5, they don’t have a lot of room for error. They will need to win at least eight of their remaining 11 games. Hamilton said that the team is already thinking about playoffs.
Hamilton stated that “every game is a playoff match for us; this is how we feel and what it will be like from now on.” Hamilton said, “We have dug ourselves a big hole. But to make it to the dance we need to be really locked in.”
