The Ravens demanded an explanation for the three crucial calls against them that resulted in their 27-22 loss Sunday to the Pittsburgh Steelers. They got it on Monday.

In a very rare move, John Harbaugh and Eric DeCosta (General Manager) and Tony Michalek (former NFL referee who the Ravens hired in the offseason), requested a call from the NFL.

Walt Anderson is an NFL rule analyst and club communication liaison. They spoke to Perry Fewell who was the NFL’s Senior Vice President of Officiating Administration.

The referees were wrong to penalize defensive tackle Travis Jones in the first-half for excessive roughness during a rush on a field-goal. Jones did make contact with the long snapper, but there was no forceful contact in the neck/head area.

It was a bad call. Harbaugh added that the league had allowed him to reveal that.
