The Ravens’ rookie offensive tackle Carson Vinson is the only player drafted this season from a historically black college and university (HBCU).
Vinson played for the first week last week against Minnesota. He was one play away, therefore, from being able to play offensive tackle for Ravens.
Harbaugh stated on Monday that it was just an “opportunity”. “[Vinson] was probably at the same level as Joe [Noteboom] on some levels.”
Vinson gave credit to the offensive line coach George Warhop for his work with him as well as Ronnie Stanley, a veteran tackle and Roger Rosengarten, a second-year tackle.
“He’s tough on me, but I need that.” Vinson said Warhop has made him a more talented player and person. It’s about staying on course and working on my technique every single day.
Vinson only played in Minnesota as a field goal blocker, but he loved watching himself do his job.
It meant a great deal. “You get to be in pads,” said he. It means a lot to me that the coaches have faith in me. It motivates me to work harder.
