Matt Nagy: Five things you need to know

He has learned from the best.

Since Nagy began as a coaching assistant in 2008, Nagy has been firmly attached to Chiefs head coach Andy Reid.

Both players spent time in Kansas City, Kansas.

Nagy spent 10 years with Reid before moving to Chicago and taking the head coaching position for the Chicago Bears. After being let go by Chicago, Nagy returned to Kansas City, where he went from senior assistant/quarterbacks coach in 2022 to offensive coordinator for the last three seasons.

John Harbaugh, too, was a Reid follower and it worked well for Baltimore.

Reid thinks Nagy will be more than prepared to lead a team a second time.

Reid told CBS Sports that “he’s worked in an organization.” He’s seen how to deal with an owner and a GM. He’s also had to deal both with players and coaches. Everyone has their own issues. There’s also a human aspect to it. “I think he is ready to go, to get out there and knock it again.”
