Mink : In the last two weeks, we’ve seen contract extensions for Mark Andrews and Travis Jones. Can Eric DeCosta and the Ravens go three-for-three?
It’s possible that the project will be completed before the end of the season, and I have a feeling it will happen before Linderbaum hits the market in March.
Linderbaum, as we all know, is an excellent player. He is a two-time Pro Bowler, and could be one again after this year. Linderbaum, a full-time center this season, has Pro Football Focus’ fifth best offensive grade among all NFL centers.
It would be in the Ravens’ best interest to retain Ronnie Stanley, their left tackle from last season. The Ravens have had inconsistent guard play and losing Linderbaum would weaken their interior blocking.
Linderbaum’s a guy the Ravens want to keep for a long time. He is a hard worker who has never missed a game or practice. His teammates highly respect him. He is a Raven.
On the flip side, you cannot pay everyone. Philadelphia Eagles’ center Cam Jurgens recently signed a $68 million four-year contract extension, which is $17 million per year on average and $23 million in guaranteed money. The Ravens can afford to sign a contract similar to Linderbaum’s after signing other players and having more free agents pending?
Corey Bullock is a talented and cheaper center for the Ravens. If they needed to make a cut somewhere, they could give Bullock the chance to start.
The Ravens rejected Linderbaum’s option for a fifth year in April due to financial concerns, as he would have had a staggering $23.4 million cap on his salary in 2026. DeCosta stated at the time that “it is our intent for [Linderbaum] remain a Baltimore Raven on a long-term basis.” I think that it will eventually happen.
