Mailbag: What can the Ravens do to improve their offense?

Mink Lamar Jackson’s comfort level will improve when he feels healthier. Jackson missed three games due to a hamstring problem. In the last three weeks he has missed three practice sessions, each time for a different injury (knees, ankles, and toes).

Jackson was fully participating in practice on Tuesday and he said he felt better. If Jackson is able to return to his normal self, the Ravens’ offense will gain another layer.

Jackson is a master at escaping from defenders, and buying time for plays to be made. This includes playing out of the pocket. This season, he hasn’t done that nearly as often. The result is more sacks and less explosive plays.

A high-level of pass protection will help any quarterback to feel more confident in the pocket. Last week, the Ravens were better at it than the New York Jets. They’ll have to keep up that level against divisional rivals Cincinnati or Pittsburgh in the weeks ahead.

Jackson could be helped by the Ravens if they ran the ball more effectively. There is no single answer. Everyone is responsible for the recent offensive lurches.

I believe that Jackson will be able to overcome these injuries and this offense will soon come together like they did at the beginning of the season, when they scored 112 points in their first three games.
