It was inevitable that the Ravens would make changes. They were 1-4, and their defense is the worst in the league for points allowed. Tuesday, two occurred.
The Ravens have traded the outside linebacker Odafe Oweh, as well as a pick in 2027’s seventh round to Los Angeles Chargers for Alohi Gillman and 2026’s fifth round pick. Baltimore signed playmaking safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson has been added to the practice squad.
The Ravens’ 31st ranked pass defense was boosted by the additions.
Gilman has played in 39 games for the Chargers over his six-year career, including five of them this year.
Gardner-Johnson (27), who has 18 interceptions in seven seasons and six interceptions with the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, could be added to the roster for the home game on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams. This is especially true if All-Pro Safety Kyle Hamilton (groin), misses the second consecutive game.
The Ravens’ struggles to rush the passer (six sacks) this season makes trading Oweh seem surprising. After recording 10 sacks in his career last season, Tavius Robinson, a fellow outside linebacker, has taken over the snaps from Oweh. Oweh will be a free agent next year.
