Jaire Alexander may play his first game since Week 1 if the Ravens face a shorthanded Texans team. Keyon Martin, an undrafted rookie, could replace Humphrey as the slot cornerback and T.J. Tampa outside. Baltimore signed veteran cornerback Amani oruwariye to its practice squad on Wednesday. He has made 40 career starts.
Stanley returned to limited practice on Friday after missing most of the last week. Stanley started the game against Kansas City, but left it in the first-half and was replaced by Joe Noteboom.
The Ravens would be able to turn to Trenton Simpson or Jake Hummel if Smith were not available. Hummel is also a special teams leader. Veteran linebacker Eric Kendricks visited the Ravens, but refused to join their practice squad.
Both outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy and defensive tackle Travis Jones are practicing on Wednesday, and both seem to be preparing for a return to the field. Van Noy missed the Chiefs game and Jones was unable to play in the last two.
