Kyle Hamilton says Ravens have what it takes to flip the script: “It’ll be a great story”

Pundits say upgrading both lines should be Ravens priority this season and offseason

The Ravens’ performance on both sides in the trenches is one of their biggest problems this season.

John Harbaugh, the head coach of the Ravens’ offensive line, said that personnel changes are being considered during the bye-week. The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec has said that he feels changes are coming.

Zrebiec wrote: “I’m aware that Harbaugh had said he would be considering changes to the O-line before Week 6 and nothing has changed.” It was easy to see Harbaugh’s frustration after the game on Sunday, as well as in his remarks Monday.

“I would have told you, heading into Week 6, that [right guard Daniel] Faalele played better than [leftguard] Andrew Vorhees. Vorhees, however, was better against the Los Angeles Rams. “I’d be mildly surprised if Ben Cleveland or Corey Bullock were not given a chance to start following the bye.”

Zrebiec does not believe that Emery Jones Jr. of the third round, who had shoulder surgery offseason, will be making his debut any time soon.

Harbaugh stated on Monday that Jones’ shoulder had only recently been cleared for him to perform pass-blocking reps. This, along with the fact that Jones was not able to take part in any minicamps or organized team activities, or training camp, suggest that he will need some time to be game-day ready, even if his practice window ends next week.

Kevin Patra , NFL.com’s Kevin’s Patra, identified Baltimore’s greatest need as the defensive line before the November 4th trade deadline.

“Congratulations to the Ravens on holding the Rams offense to just 17 points. Patra wrote that given the current state of affairs in Baltimore, this is a great accomplishment. The defense is still in bad shape. While the Alohi-Gilman trade helped the back end of the team, the front seven are still unable to generate pressure.

Zrebiec believes that bolstering the two lines will be a top priority in this offseason.

I’d be surprised if Eric DeCosta didn’t admit that he hadn’t done enough to improve the situation in the trenches when this season was over. Zrebiec wrote: “I’d expect this to be the focus of the offseason, primarily with regards to the draft.”
