Harbaugh, 63, spent 18 seasons with the Ravens. He led them to 12 appearances in playoffs. This included the 2012 campaign, which culminated in a win at Super Bowl XLVII and gave the franchise its second Lombardi Trophy. Harbaugh is expected to build a championship-oriented culture for the Giants who have only had one winning season in 2017 and are looking forward to a new era.
Harbaugh, who has a regular-season career record of 180-113 wins in the NFL ranks as the 14 th among all time. He is also ranked fourth amongst active coaches. Harbaugh did not want to take a year off and went right back in the saddle with a brand new team, in a completely different conference.
The Ravens won’t face the Giants until 2028.
Harbaugh’s move to the Giants from the Ravens is part of the AFC North coaching shakeup. Mike Tomlin announced on Tuesday that would not be returning to the Pittsburgh Steelers. This ended his 19-year stint as their head coach. Kevin Stefanski was fired by the Cleveland Browns after this season. They are now looking for a new coach. Zac Taylor, the Cincinnati Bengals’ head coach, is the only AFC North returning head.
