Jaire Alexander is aware of the perception that surrounds his career, after being released two times in less than one year. The veteran cornerback was asked if his best football is still ahead of him.
Alexander is confident in his ability, despite the narrative, to contribute at an elite level for Philadelphia Eagles. Last week, Baltimore Ravens sent Alexander and a pick in the 2027 seventh round to Philadelphia for a pick in 2026’s sixth round.
Alexander spoke about his time in Baltimore after the trade. The first-round 2018 pick clarified his limited role is due to the team’s decision on depth charts, not any physical limitations.
Kevin Oestreiche of The Ravens Wire reported that Alexander stated, “I believe they had some younger guys they wanted to be playing.” “Some younger guys. “But I’m excited to be here.”

Green Bay Packers cornerback, two-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro second-team selection, spent seven seasons as an established starter. Green Bay received criticism for releasing Alexander in June, without a replacement.
Injury had forced him to miss parts of the seasons in 2023 and 2024. This was a factor. Alexander signed a six-million dollar contract with Baltimore, which included $4 million in guaranteed money and $2 million incentives.
This move brought him back together with his former Louisville teammate Lamar Jackson. His time with the Ravens was brief and ineffective. Alexander played in just two games, recording five tackles. He was then designated as a healthy scratch.
The secondary was under constant pressure during the entire game, but he did not play in the 28-6 win over Miami by Baltimore on Thursday Night Football.
Alexander was viewed by the Ravens as a veteran with low risk who could add depth to their defensive backfield. The Ravens traded Alexander because of his recurring knee problems.
