During a Wednesday night episode of “Purple Playbook“, at Jimmy’s Famous Seafood, tight end Isaiah Likely answered the question that has been on Ravens fans’ minds for weeks: when will he be returning to play?
Likely smiled and said “Very Soon.” The audience at the taping of the show that will air on Saturday, 11:35 pm, roared.
Likely broke his foot during training camp. He underwent surgery. Last Friday he returned to the practice field, working out with Tight Ends coach George Godsey.
Likely could be playing in the Detroit Lions game on Monday night, since he wasn’t put on injured reserve. That would have meant he’d miss at least four games.
Probably, the person who speaks publicly about the injury for the first is the one who explains how it happened.
“I was in a one-on-1 with [safety Sanoussi] Kane, caught a football and landed on my foot a bit wrong. Sanoussi was trying to make an excellent play on the football and ended up stepping onto my foot accidentally,” Likely explained. “I grabbed my foot and felt as if I couldn’t apply pressure to it. “I went inside and got an MRI. I saw that my fifth metatarsal had been cracked.”
Likely stated that he “wanted to be back on the field,” but understood that “the goal is to ensure I am good in the future.”
He said, “I’m really at a place where I can trust myself and be myself.” “I know that when I go out there, fans, players, brothers, and coaches all want to see my true self. “I’m not timid or hesitant about making those big plays I do.”
Likely’s arrival will provide the Ravens with another offensive playmaker. He wants to build on a year in which he set career highs in receptions (42) and yards (477) as well as touchdowns (6).
