Late For Work reported last week that an analytics model predicted cornerback Jaire Alexandra to lead the league this season in interceptions. Sports Illustrated Gilberto Manzano predicts that Nate Wiggins will win the interception title.
Manzano wrote: “My boldest predication, but I think this secondary is vastly improved over last season thanks to the addition of Jaire Starks and Malaki Alexander.” Manzano wrote: “Additionally, teams will need to be aggressive in order to keep up with Lamar Jackson & Co. and this secondary has plenty of chances to score takeaways.
“Teams might stay away from Marlon Huffrey and Kyle Hamilton – now the highest paid safety in the NFL – leaving Wiggins, 2024’s first-round selection, to fend himself frequently in his second year. Ravens beat writers have called him the player most likely to have a breakout year in Baltimore. Wiggins’ rookie season was up and down, with just one interception. But many have noticed his improvement.”
Wiggins stated a few months ago that his focus is on interceptions and that his goal was double-digit takeaways.
This year, it’s all about taking away. Wiggins stated that this is the main thing he wants to focus on. “I dropped the ball a lot last year. This year, I’m just going to focus on catching it because it will come. This year, all we have to do is catch the ball.
