The Ravens do not have a type.
Bisciotti said to DeCosta and Brown, when the search started, that he had been “very fascinated” by the list of candidates who were looking for a second chance at a coaching position.
This list includes (for the moment) confirmed interview with Jim Schwartz and Brian Flores. It also includes requested interviews Mike McDaniel, Robert Saleh, Matt Nagy and Kliff Kingbury.
Each of them had a unique set of circumstances which sank their first attempt at being a head-coach. There are many factors that can affect a coach’s tenure, whether it is a lack of talent or a poor quarterback.
Bisciotti will consider all of this when evaluating coaches who are looking for another opportunity. Baltimore does not consider “retread” a dirty term.
Bisciotti stated, “I could disqualify coaches with losing records. But you must remember that these coaches were the most popular in their respective cycles, they received jobs and had tough jobs. I don’t believe we have a difficult job.”
I’m telling you that we’re very aware of their situation and won’t allow their first job to affect us negatively in this one.
