The Ravens changed their offensive line against the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday night, giving Emery Jones Jr. his first NFL action.
Jones and Andrew Vorhees rotated at left guard. Vorhees had started 11 of the previous 12 games. Vorhees started 44 snaps (73%), while Jones took 16 snaps (27%).
Pro Football Focus (PFF), a leading football analysis website, gave Jones a grade of 47.9. He scored higher in the area of pass protection (67.6) compared to run blocking (45.6). Jones was flagged on one run for a hold penalty.
Jones, after the Ravens 32-14 defeat, said: “I thought I had a great night.” “I wish I could go back and get one holding call, but I thought I played fairly well.”
It felt good to show my talents, and that I could help the team in a small way.
Ronnie Stanley, the left tackle for the New York Jets, said that Jones was “great” to his eyes despite the penalty.
Stanley stated that “the effort he put in, he proved that he could play this league.”
