Ed Reed delivers speech to Ravens before critical Bengals game

The Ravens have their backs against the wall, as they are 6-7 in the AFC North and trail Pittsburgh Steelers by a game. Baltimore recovered from a 0-5 start to the year but must now rebound after losing back-to back divisional home games.

Baltimore’s five turnovers led to a 32-14 Bengals victory on Thanksgiving two weeks prior.

Kyle Hamilton, a safety, said: “He shows us how he achieved it and the teams that were able do it.” “He talked about how he hadn’t won a Super Bowl till late in his career, and how his outlook had changed after those tough losses they suffered. We’re in a similar situation. “I know that when they won it wasn’t flawless either.”

Alohi Gillman, a safety, said that he had, of course seen all the Reed highlight videos and mic’d-up moments from his professional career. He described it as having a “mystical figure” present in the room.

“He is a G.O.A.T. It was really cool, man. His words, his wisdom and his confidence were all very impressive. Gilman said, “When he speaks, we listen.”

“[He spoke about] sticking together, maintaining the high standard – that’s the standard! – and staying connected both on and off the pitch. It was definitely useful for us all going into these games, and especially this one.”

Teddye Buchanan, a rookie linebacker, recalled how Tom Brady and Bill Belichick devoted a lot of attention to Reed. Reed was an avid film buff who often hosted his team at his home for study sessions.

Buchanan stated that it is a great motivator to prepare and to give your all every day, every moment in order to be prepared on Sundays. “Football, the ultimate team game, is a sport where you must rely on each other. It all starts with what you can bring to the team. You can only bring others with you once you have taken care of yourself. “That’s the essence of football.”
