The Baltimore Ravens entered training camp with a different energy, as last season’s playoff disappointment lingers.
Players know they have the talent to compete. The question remains whether they can finally break through when it matters most.
That urgency starts at the top with quarterback Lamar Jackson.
Running back Derrick Henry recently discussed Jackson’s message to the team as camp began.
“He just emphasized, ‘Let’s put the work in, right now. Let’s not come out here and BS on all three phases. Let’s do what we need to do, each and every day, to get where we want to go.’ He’s been emphasizing that a lot from the first day that we got here. … It’s time to do what we need to do. … [He’s] just tired of coming up short. … We’re hungry. We wanna get there,” Henry said, via SiriusXM radio.

Jackson’s frustration stems from another season that ended earlier than expected.
During the regular season, he threw for 4,172 yards and 41 touchdowns with a 119.6 passer rating.
The Ravens then lost in the Divisional Round to the Buffalo Bills.
Now in his eighth season, Jackson has two NFL MVP awards but has never reached the Super Bowl.
Henry joined Baltimore last season and quickly became a vocal presence. His partnership with Jackson caught attention around the league.
In the 2025 preseason opener against the Washington Commanders, most starters will see limited action, if they play at all.
But Jackson’s leadership approach has already set the tone for what Baltimore hopes becomes a breakthrough season.
Henry’s comments reveal a team that believes this could be their moment.
The Ravens have dealt with playoff heartbreak before.
This time feels different with Jackson demanding more from everyone around him.
