NFL running backs’ production tends to decline after 30.
Running backs have often stopped playing well after 30.
Derrick Henry was not told this, but he was an absolute freak for the Baltimore Ravens during his first season in 2024.
Last year he rushed for 1,921 yardage for the Ravens, giving them another rushing threat to Lamar Jackson.
Henry had his best season in 2020. He turned back the clock to make a comeback.
Henry, who started the season with 169 yard and two touchdowns, had a significant impact on the Ravens defense even though they lost the game to Buffalo Bills.
The touchdowns propelled him into the sixth position in NFL history. He passed legendary running back Jim Brown.

Henry is likely to surpass Walter Payton in the near future, since he needs only four touchdowns.
Adrian Peterson, Marcus Allen and Marcus Allen would also be passed up, as they need 14 and 17 additional yards, respectively.
Henry’s presence on the Ravens roster has helped to elevate this part of their offense.
He’s not only making history, but also proving to other players in the league and media that time doesn’t stop at 30.
It will be fascinating to see how long he can continue to be so dominant.
