Cowboys ask Ravens to interview Zach Orr about DC position

Orr, 33 years old, replaced Mike Macdonald when he moved to Seattle. Macdonald had wanted Orr to join him as his DC. But Orr chose to remain with the team with which he spent most of his NFL career playing and coaching.

Orr failed to live up the hype. Orr turned around the Ravens’ defense after a bad start in 2024, but he couldn’t inspire a similar rebound this year. Orr is connected to Cowboys’ head coach Brian Schottenheimer. Orr and Schottenheimer both worked for Urban Meyer in Jacksonville, 2021. Though the situation did not go well, neither Orr or Schottenheimer played a major role in the Jaguars’ struggles.

Orr is not expected to be retained by the Ravens as their DC. Orr may be kept on by the new head coach, but the need to reset Baltimore’s culture will push him out. He’ll be able find another job fairly quickly, even if he doesn’t get to the coordinator level.
