C.J. has had a difficult season. Gardner-Johnson is a huge understatement.
The Super Bowl champion, who had appeared to have found a new job a week ago, is now unemployed once again. He took to Twitter to share an emotional message.
“I want to take this moment to thank everyone who has supported me, including the coaches, teammates and all of the teams that I have been a member of. Each experience I’ve had has allowed me to grow on and off the pitch. I am truly grateful for the memories and opportunities. My passion for football is still very strong. Football has been an important part of my life and who I am. Gardner-Johnson said on X, “I’m excited to continue working, improving and playing the sport I love.”

The Baltimore Ravens added him to their practice team, and given their obvious defensive problems, they certainly could have used him.
It was therefore a bit surprising that he was released so soon after.
It was a “mutual decision” made by both parties, according to his agent.
The Ravens acquired safety Alohi Gillman in the trade and started him against the Los Angeles Rams during Week 6, while Gardner-Johnson was not even present.
Gilman was a dominant player and had seven tackles combined. Gardner-Johnson’s fate seemed sealed.
This is his second release this season.
After three games, the Houston Texans released him, after trading him to the Philadelphia Eagles in the off-season.
Gardner-Johnson has been accused of rubbing people the wrong way by multiple reports.
In seven NFL seasons he has intercepted 18 passes and defended 51 others. Last season, he had six interception for the Eagles championship team.
He may be approached by a new team, but will need to behave himself.
