Browns players talk tough, Ravens must respond

Cleveland Browns’ players have been talking tough over the last two days. Jerry Jeudy replied “No challenges” when asked about the Ravens secondary on Wednesday.

It’s difficult to blame him after the fourth quarter of the Buffalo Bills game. In the fourth quarter of play, Josh Allen was able to throw 251 yards and score a touchdown. He also rushed for two touchdowns. This totaled 395 yards and four touchdowns.

The Ravens had already stifled the Bills in the fourth quarter. Allen only had 143 yards passing and one touchdown. Bills offense had a hard time sustaining drives. Their meltdown leads to teams and players feeling confident enough to win.

Grant Delpit, the Browns’ safety, brought a new level of confidence to the team on Thursday. When asked about the difficulty of taking down Ravens runningback Derrick Henry, he replied that it was “not hard.” He replied quickly, smiling, “Not difficult.”

Delpit did have a highlight on Henry last season. Henry was high-low tackled on the fifth play by Denzel Ward, and Delpit. Delpit delivered an unintentional, hard hit to the top of Henry as Ward sat low from the opposite side. Delpit’s “too-small” celebration was his way of celebrating the hit.

After their first-week loss, both teams will be 0-1 going into Week 2. Both teams have a diametrically opposite attitude and mantra.

The Browns have a new found confidence. The Ravens have recalibrated and are recovering from an embarrassing loss. Outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy said that some people took more than one day to recover.

Over the course of my career, I have learned that sometimes there is a 24-hour Rule. Van Noy explained that sometimes you have to take 24 or 48 hours. After such a loss, I thought it was okay to take 48 hours.

It is often advised to never provide your opponent with bulletin board materials. The Browns don’t hesitate to express their confidence, or keep it private. The Ravens will have to step up on Sunday.
