The Buffalo Bills are leaving no stone unturned as they prepare for their Divisional Round clash with the Ravens and Lamar Jackson. To fine-tune their game plan, the Bills have signed a familiar face: former Ravens quarterback Anthony Brown.
In a move announced Wednesday, the Bills signed Brown to their practice squad, releasing defensive tackle Eli Ankou to make room. Brown’s addition gives Buffalo a mobile quarterback to emulate Jackson’s unique playing style in practice—a strategy that could prove pivotal against the Ravens’ explosive offense.
Brown, 26, began his NFL journey as an undrafted free agent with the Ravens in 2022. He played in two games, including one start, completing 22 of 49 passes for 302 yards. While his time on the field was limited, his experience with Baltimore’s system makes him a valuable resource for the Bills’ defense.
After spending 2023 on the Ravens’ practice squad, Brown had a brief stint with the Las Vegas Raiders in the offseason before returning to Buffalo during training camp. While he didn’t make the Bills’ active roster initially, his familiarity with Baltimore’s offense likely played a role in his re-signing.
Before entering the NFL, Brown split his college career between Boston College (2016–2019) and the University of Oregon (2020–2021). During his final season at Oregon, Brown showcased his dual-threat capabilities:
His athleticism and mobility mirror some of the traits that make Jackson such a challenging quarterback to defend.
This isn’t just a roster move—it’s a strategic play by the Bills to prepare for Lamar Jackson. By using Brown in practice, Buffalo’s defense can simulate Jackson’s speed, agility, and improvisational style. While no one can fully replicate the former MVP, Brown’s familiarity with Baltimore’s offense and his own athletic abilities make him a valuable asset.
The Ravens are no strangers to opponents pulling moves like this, but it’s a reminder of how much respect—and concern—Jackson commands. Baltimore’s offensive unit will need to stay sharp, as the Bills are clearly putting in the work to counteract Jackson’s dynamic playmaking.
What do you think, Flock fans? Will the Bills’ preparation make a difference, or will Lamar and the Ravens be too much to handle? Let us know in the comments!
