Bengals’ Statement after Ravens Shutout

Head Coach Zac Taylor

His thoughts on Sunday’s game : “Frustrating. It all starts when our offense is shut out. This is not us. That’s unacceptable. I never saw it coming. I believe we made five trips to the other side of their field, and still came away without a point. When you leave with no points as a play-caller, I have a lot of responsibility. It was a frustrating day. I think that we made some offensive mistakes… silly penalties that were within our control. We had possessions in which we could have scored points, but we didn’t. “That was frustrating.”

If they could have done anything different to speed up the drive which ended with a pick-six by Baltimore, that took around eight minutes and more off the clock: We had some personnel problems certainly, we were trying balance some injuries there. We had moments when we played at tempo and moments where the huddle was called to try to get points on board.

When asked if he was surprised by anything the Ravens did Sunday, he said: I wouldn’t say it. It may have appeared easier [on Thanksgiving]. Five turnovers by our defense — and we were a zero. We kicked field goal early on in that game, when you’d like to have come away with touchdowns. [The Ravens] really made it hard. We knew that people would say we were easy winners, so we did it. It was not. It wasn’t easy. In that game, we scored touchdowns on both third downs. We knew this game would be difficult. We spent a lot time and energy on the practice and plan. I woke up today feeling good about our progress. Again, I won’t say there’s a single offensive area that we will say was good enough. It was nowhere near good enough. It started with me. “That part was frustrating.”
