Baltimore Ravens snap count analysis, week 13: Emery Jones debuts in blowout defeat

In Week 13, the Ravens offensive struggles reached a new low as they only scored 14 points, and lost four fumbles. The most notable change was the debut of Emery Jones Jr. at offensive lineman. He played 16 snaps, and alternated with Andrew Vorhees on left guard. Jones had some struggles, but it is possible that his inclusion in the starting lineup will be permanent. Corey Bullock, Joseph Noteboom and other backups also saw limited playing time.

Rasheen Ali surprised everyone by leading all running backs with 29 snaps. He outpaced Derrick Heny’s total of 29 plays by five. Ali played a larger role in the second-half as the Ravens were playing catch up. Justice Hill was now on injury reserve. Ali became the Ravens’ primary third down running back. Henry had 60 rushing yard on 10 carries, 44 receiving yards, and a touchdown. However, he only received five tries in each half following a successful first drive. Keaton Mitchel also scored a touchdown in the second quarter with an 18-yard scamper.

Mark Andrews was the tight end who played 41 snaps, while Isaiah Likely came in second with 31 snaps. Together, they accounted for the majority of the receiving production for the team. Likely had a season high five catches and 95 yards. Unfortunately, his performance was overshadowed due to a costly fumble that occurred at the goalline. This negated the first touchdown catch he would have made this season. Charlie Kolar played just 10 snaps but caught the first team pass.

Zay Flowers, who played 95 percent of the snaps in his return from injury, only caught two out of seven targets and gained six yards. He also lost a fumble during the fourth quarter. Rashod bateman returned from injury and played 44 snaps, but was only targeted once. Deandre Hopkins caught two passes for 25 yards on 23 snaps. Devontez Walker (17 Snaps) was given the role of Tylan Wallace, who was healthy scratch.

The Ravens played 83 defensive snaps. Four players were on the field for 100% of defensive snaps: Kyle Hamilton, despite an ankle injury sustained last Sunday, Roquan Smith and Marlon Humphrey. Alohi Gillman also played 100%. Malaki Starks played 80 snaps, the only defender who played more than 77%.

Travis Jones was next in line, having played 64 snaps as a defensive tackle. He had six tackles, including a tackle for loss. John Jenkins was next on the front seven (47 snaps), followed by Brent Urban (20 snaps), C.J. Okoye (16 snaps) and Aeneas peebles (4 snaps) were behind him on the front-seven. Peebles has returned to the field after being out of action for several weeks.

Carl Lawson, an edge rusher who was previously on the Ravens’ practice squad, made his debut with 26 snaps. Mike Green’s 61 snapped led all edge-rushers once again. Kyle Van Noy had a big snap share of 45%, and Dre’Mont Jones was able to get 54 snaps. David Ojabo was replaced by Lawson as a healthy inactive.

Chidobe (52 snaps), who was suffering from a concussion, left the game early in the second quarter. He returned at the start of the third quarter. He did not leave the field after that, because the Ravens desperately needed him with Nate Wiggins’ (foot) absence for the rest of the game. Wiggins also played 43 snaps in the first quarter before leaving and not returning. The Ravens used Humphrey and Hamilton a lot in the slot with Wiggins gone, while giving T.J. Tampa 8 snaps as an outside cornerback.
