Baltimore Ravens promote DT Tay Bryan to DT after placing LB Jay Higgins in IR

According to the NFL transaction wire, Baltimore Ravens linebacker Jay Higgins was placed on injured reserve Saturday. The team promoted defensive tackle Taven Brenden from the practice squad onto the 53-man list.

Higgins sustained a knee injury during the Ravens’ victory over the Vikings. John Harbaugh, the Ravens’ head coach, said that Higgins would be out for “a few weeks,” but is expected back later in the season. Higgins will return to the Ravens in Week 15, for their second meeting with the Bengals.

Bryan had to be moved off the roster because he used all three of his practice squad promotions in the last three games. After injuries to Nnamdi Washington and Broderick Madubuike, the eight-year veteran joined Baltimore in September. He was part of Zach Orr’s post-bye adjustment. Orr, who wanted bigger bodies to stop running, has played Bryan in the last 3 games over Aeneas Aeneas peebles. Peebles is more of a passer rusher. Peebles was expected to miss Sunday’s match due to Bryan being available.
