Around the AFC North, Mike Tomlin informs Steelers he’s stepping away

Mike Tomlin informs Steelers he’s leaving

Under Head Coach Mike Tomlin, the Steelers have lost seven consecutive playoff games. Multiple reports claim that he told the team on his departure the next day.

Tomlin is the NFL’s longest serving head coach. He has won a Super Bowl, and never had a losing year in his 19 years of coaching. The Steelers, however, haven’t won a postseason game since 2016, and they didn’t even come close to winning Monday night.

The Texans dominated second half, with Pittsburgh failing to score a touchdown. Tomlin had not intended for this season to end in the manner that it did. There were more chants from Acrisure Stadium fans near the end.

According to ESPN Research, the Steelers are the first NFL team to have lost five consecutive playoff games by a double-digit margin. Seven consecutive playoff losses are the most since Marvin Lewis’s streak from 2005-2015.
