Alohi Gilman, Ravens safety, scored his first NFL touchdown. He now has his very first NFL award.
Gilman was named AFC Defensive Week 15 Player of the Week after the Ravens shutout victory over the Bengals by 24-0.
Gilman scored a 95 yard interception return in the fourth quarter after Kyle Van Noy had handed him the ball, following his interception by Joe Burrow.
Gilman yelled to Van Noy for him to give him the pass and the spry safetey outraced all the Bengals, reaching speeds of 20 mph. Gilman had also eight tackles, and one pass defended. Gilman was instrumental in Burrow’s first shutout in his NFL career.
Gilman stated that it is difficult to achieve this in the NFL. As competitors, we are pissed that we lost the first time.
Gilman is the first player to win the weekly award during his six NFL seasons. Gilman has been an integral part of Baltimore’s defensive turnaround ever since he was acquired in a mid-season trade from the Los Angeles Chargers.
