The third week of the NFL 2025 season is now officially over. This week, two AFC North teams suffered losses while another scored a major upset on Sunday. On Monday night, the Ravens were hammered by the Lions.
The Bengals’ first week without Joe Burrow, the Vikings defense dominated the backup quarterback Jake Browning to the tune of a 48-10 victory.
Browning continued to throw interceptions on Sunday where he had left off from Week 2. He now has five for the season after just 40 attempts in two games. Cincinnati also fumbled 5 times. Minnesota recovered 3 of them.
Burrow’s turf toe injury was successfully treated in Week 2. However, the Bengals may be without their star QB for a significant portion of the season. NFL Network’s Ianrapoport stated that Burrow “could potentially return in December, if the Bengals’ record warrants it and if his rehabilitation goes perfectly.”
Cincinnati will find it difficult to keep their playoff hopes alive without Burrow at the center, especially if Browning keeps on committing turnovers. Brett Rypien will be the Bengals’ next quarterback if Browning doesn’t improve his play soon. Browning needs to make more connections with Ja’Marr chase and Tee Higgins, who combined for 65 yards and no touchdowns in six targets on this week.
The Steelers defeated the New England Patriots 21-14 to move to 2-1 for the season. It was Pittsburgh’s 1st win in New England in 2008, and Aaron Rodgers first road victory against the Patriots.
Steelers’ defense was the story of the game, forcing five turnovers: one interception and 4 fumbles. The Steelers defense notched five sacks, including two from outside linebacker T.J. Watt. Watt had not recorded a sack in the first two games this season.
Rodgers passed his former teammate Brett Favre to become the fourth highest career scorer in touchdown passes. He completed 16 of 23 passes and finished with 139 yard, two touchdowns, an interception, while also completing 139 yard, two touchdowns. The team’s receiving leader was shared by running back Jaylen Warren and wide receiver Calvin Austin III. Both players had 34 yards.
Pittsburgh can take over the top spot in the division this week. With Burrow likely to be out indefinitely and the Ravens coming off another loss in primetime, with the next game being against the AFC champions defending their title.
The Browns won their first game of the season by defeating the Green Bay Packers 13-10 in a defensive battle.
After defensive tackle Shelby Harris blocked a Packers’ kick, kicker Andre Szmyt kicked a 55 yard field goal. Szmyt let down the team in Week 1, when he missed an extra point and a field goal. He also tweaked his left calf during Friday’s practice. Szmyt’s three kicks, and all of Cleveland’s 13 points, came in the last four minutes of regulation.
The Browns forced their first turnover this season when safety Grant Delpit intercepted quarterback Jordan Love. Cleveland’s defense is a real force after shutting Green Bay down this week, sacking Love 5 times and giving Baltimore offense a run for its money last week.
Quinshon JUDKINS, a rookie running back from Ohio State who was drafted in the second round after a long offseason with the Browns, let the NFL know that he is officially here on Sunday. He rushed for 94 yard and tallied a touchdown in his second NFL match. Cleveland’s loss was made worse by the fact that offensive tackle Dawand jones, who started the game for Cleveland for three years in a row, suffered a season ending injury.
The Ravens’ second primetime loss of the season came against the Detroit Lions on Monday night.
Baltimore’s second loss was similar to their first, with their defense unable to get consistent stops and their offense struggling to sustain drives. Derrick Henry has fumbled three games in a row. Like Week 1, this time it happened at a critical moment in the game. Lamar Jackson completed 21 of 27 pass attempts for 288 yard and three touchdowns. However, his hesitation in the pocket resulted in seven sacks. The Ravens’ rushing total was just 85 yards.
Baltimore’s defense, without defensive tackle Nnamdi madubuike and linebacker Kyle Van Noy on the outside, was dominated by Detroit’s strong ground game. The Lions won the game by a huge margin of 224 yards rushing and scoring four touchdowns. Ravens also failed to create consistent pressure, as they did not record a single sack of quarterback Jared Goff. Baltimore has only three sacks through three games. Two of those sacks came from Madubuike.
The Ravens, who are currently 1-2, will travel to Arrowhead next week to play the Chiefs (1-2), a match both teams will be eager to win.
