In Week 11 of NFL, two different AFC North matchups were played. The Browns hosted the Ravens while the Bengals visited the Steelers. The two games played out as follows:
Pittsburgh Steelers retaliated against the Cincinnati Bengals with a 34-12 thrashing in Week 11, maintaining a one game lead in their division. After the game, the story was about the altercation that occurred between Jalen Ramsey (left) and Ja’Marr chase (right), which resulted in Ramsey being thrown out after he threw a punch. Later, Ramsey claimed that Chase spit on him. Video evidence backed up his claim. Chase will miss the Week 12 and return for Thanksgiving in Baltimore after a one-game ban.
Even though Ramsey left the game early the Steelers defense still managed to score two defensive touchdowns. The first came on a pick six by Kyle Dugger, and the second on a James Pierre fumble recovery. Chase had caught 16 passes in the first matchup between the teams, resulting in 161 yards of yardage and a touchdown. This time, he was limited to three catches and 30 yards.
Aaron Rodgers was out of the game for the second half due to a wrist injury. Rodgers completed 9 of 15 passes for 116 yard and a score in the first half. Mason Rudolph, on the other hand, went 12 for 16, for 127 yards with a score. Kenneth Gainwell was credited with both touchdowns after Jaylen Warr was injured. Gainwell had 81 receiving yard and 24 rushing yard on nine carries to go along with his two touchdowns on seven receptions. Darnell Washington played his best game in his career. The massive tight end caught 4 passes for 67 yard and left multiple Bengals defenders behind him on a 31-yard catch-and run.
Rodgers’ fractured wrist will not require surgery, it was revealed later. It is not yet known if he will be available for Week 12.
The Baltimore Ravens beat the Cleveland Browns 23-16 in Week 11, sweeping them for the first since 2020.
The Ravens had a bad day as they lost the ball three times. Once on offense, and twice when rookie LaJohntayWester muffed a punt. Lamar Jackson’s worst game this season was a 14-of-25 pass attempt performance for 193 yard, two interceptions, and no touchdowns. Myles Garrett, the frontrunner for Defensive player of the year, sacked Jackson 4 times. Derrick Henry’s 59-yard dash made his 103 rushing yard and touchdown total look much better. The Ravens offense has struggled to find a way out of short-yardage situations almost every week. Todd Monken, for the second time in a week, got creative in order to make a big play. He rolled Mark Andrews for a run, which turned into a touchdown of 35 yards on what looked at first like a standard push play, with the tight-end under center.
Baltimore’s defensive unit deserves the majority of the credit for this matchup, as it made the lives of both rookie quarterbacks Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders miserable. Sanders started his NFL regular season debut in the second half, after Gabriel was forced to leave the game due to a concussion. Zach Orr, the Ravens’ blitz master, ruined this momentous occasion. He sent blitzes after blitzes at the rookie, who was drafted in the fifth round. The defensive turnaround in Baltimore has been an important component of their winning streak. The Ravens are only one game behind Steelers in AFC North.
Cincinnati dropped to 3-7 after their Week 11 loss to Pittsburgh of 34-12.
Joe Burrow, the Bengals’ star quarterback, returned to practice in Week 2 after a toe injury. Burrow has not been the team’s star quarterback since Week 2, when he suffered a toe-injury. Zac Taylor did not commit when asked whether Burrow would start Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots. Chase will not be able to play against the Patriots, regardless of who starts at quarterback. The wide receiver was suspended for one game after spitting in Ramsey’s face. Chase had just 30 yards in receiving after destroying the Steelers during the first meeting between division rivals. Tee Higgins led the team in receiving yards with three catches totaling 63 and a touchdown. Chase Brown continued his resurgence against Pittsburgh, racking up 99 rushing yard on 18 carries and 28 receiving yards with six catches.
Cincinnati’s defense, which is one of the weakest in the AFC North, will struggle to keep up with the race. The Bengals defense has been ranked dead last in yards and points scored per game through 11 weeks. Trey Hendrickson’s return to the lineup will help the struggling unit. The star defensive end missed Sunday’s game with a hip problem for the second time.
Cleveland fell to 2-8 after their loss to Baltimore of 23-16 in Week 11.
Garrett’s four-sack effort was herculean, but not enough to overcome Browns offensive ineptitude. Devin Bush’s pick-six accounted for seven of Cleveland’s 16 points, and a Baltimore muffed punt accounted for another three. Quinshon was held back after the first quarter. He finished the game with only 59 yards from 17 carries. Sanders, who took over for Gabriel during the second half, was a complete disaster. He completed only four of sixteen passes for 47 yard and an interception. Sanders will make his first official start against the Las Vegas Raiders this Sunday. Cleveland will be hoping that Sanders’ first week as a starter will make things look better.
Garrett, who has 15 sacks in 11 weeks, is on track to surpass the NFL record of 22.25 sacks set by Michael Strahan. This record was later equaled by T.J. Watt. Ten of Garrett’s season sacks have been recorded in the last three matches. Garrett wasn’t the only Browns defender to shine against the Ravens. Carson Schwesinger also had a stellar debut, adding a team high 11 tackles as well as an interception. Linebacker from UCLA, Carson Schwesinger is the current favorite for Defensive Rookie Of The Year.
